The pace of life is fast, there is no denying it. Changes in the world are occurring at a very rapid pace. One just has to look at all the novelties in technology to realize just how fast things are changing. We want our children to learn to thrive and be comfortable and familiar with all that they will see, do and encounter in their lives. In our society, stress is all too common, and it is the cause of most illness.
Imagine if we could give our children the tools to be attuned to a healthy state of body/mind, an awareness of the signals of stress, and a knowledge of how to change whatever needs to be changed to alleviate that stress and live a life of peaceful happiness? In my experience as a teacher, I have seen many stressed families. Including mine! We all know that stress is unavoidable, it is a part of everyday life. However, there are tools that we can use to help deal with stress. I truly believe that the lessons learned in a Yoga practice can provide these tools. Why not start with the young ones, our future generations, in order to give them the basic knowledge from which to grow in dealing with stress that they will encounter in life?
For many years I suffered the effects of a very serious illness, which affected me emotionally and physically. I have noticed that stress plays a major part in the manifestation of my health issues. I speak from personal experience when I say that Yoga, among many other things such as nutrition, other forms of exercise, mental and spiritual health, has made a positive impact on my life and health. I love being a teacher, and I love Yoga, and thus I created ZenKids Yoga, where my mission is to help educate and support kids and families as best I can through a fun, and inspiring Yoga practice with the intent to provide children with the tools to lead a happy and healthy life.
